This is a Common Genet, Genetta genetta. A common and widespread species, its distribution stretches from southern Africa to southern Europe and Arabia. Genets are small, cat-like carnivores, perhaps not unlike the ancient ancestors of all the cats. They are also closely related to mongooses. This species lives in dry bushy country. Several other species are found in Africa, in regions from semi-desert to dense rainforest. Genets are good climbers and at home in trees as well as on the ground. They are shy and active at night. They can be tamed and make playful pets, but it is very important to make sure that genets aren't captured and traded illegally. Watercolour.

Yes civets and genets are in the same family! You're lucky indeed to have done that! What kind of civets were those?

Hello! I've seen your photos ... I think you're right, the species seem to be the Asian Palm Civet, and also the Masked Palm Civet. Anyways that's fantastic, they're very pretty critters! Over here we have a civet, it's the much larger African Civet, I haven't seen it yet.
