Description
Skinnerhyus shermerorum was not a pig, but a peccary! It had huge, weird, flaring cheekbones. It is very interesting to me that these peccaries developed such wide cheeks, similar to those of many real pigs like the warthog, but independently! This species lived in North America (fossils found in Nebraska) in the Late Miocene, about 7-5 million years ago. Watercolour.
