Description
Here's a Bongo for you! This is one of Africa's largest and also most beautiful antelopes. There are two kinds of bongos, Tragelaphus eurycerus: the Western Bongo, which occurs in lowland forests in the Congo basin and in equatorial West Africa, and the mountain bongo, which occurs in Kenya and is extremely rare. Male and female bongos both have horns, but those of the males are stouter. The males are also larger, and grow in size throughout their lives, becoming very sturdy as well as very dark-coloured. Bongos belong to the spiral-horned antelopes, and may be especially closely related to the much smaller bushbucks. Watercolour painting.
