Monteiro's Hornbill

This hornbill, Tockus monteiri, is the most arid-adapted hornbill in the world. It occurs in northern Namibia and southern Angola in rocky, semidesert country. Because trees are rare it often nests in holes in cliff faces, and often has a much larger job of plastering up the entrance than other hornbills. The female lays her eggs and broods the chicks while her 'husband' feeds her through a small slit. Watercolour with a bit of Photoshop-ing.
