Description

Another weird-horned extinct pronghorn!  Tetrameryx apparently had four horns.  They were actually connected at the base by a very short horn shaft, from which the front and rear tines rised up.  These tines were likely covered in life with horn sheaths, like that of the living pronghorn.  The cores themselves were quite long, particularly the rear tine.  The sheaths were not preserved, so it is just my guess that they were straight too, and not ending in curved prongs as in the extant pronghorn.  Tetrameryx lived from 5 million years ago until just about twelve thousands of years ago, making it effectively as modern a species as the living pronghorn.  Pencil, coloured with Photoshop.
